Effect of Dodd-Frank on Community Banks
I cited this article for the proposition that the decline in the number of community banks is not due to Dodd-Frank but the continuation of a trend that has been occurring anyway over many years. The president of CUNA, Jim Nussle, begs to differ in this March 5 2017 letter supporting H.R. 1264, a recent bill which exempts credit unions from Dodd-Frank. Similarly with this April 5, 2017 letter from the National Association of Federal Credit Unions to Congressman Jeb Hensarling in advance of Richard Cordray's appearance before Hensarling's house committee. The article first cited seems to contain more evidence, but the NAFCU has some interesting points.
